Be our Valentine
Although we would hope that love is celebrated all year round, we do believe that it can never harm to give it some special attention on special days: Valentine’s day! how to better do this from the country of flowers than by sending you some virtual floral greetings! In this post you’ll find some fun facts to do with the upcoming tulip season as of April, an overview of the different local flower blossoming times, and our suggestions for a flower experience inspired itinerary around Amsterdam, within and beyond tulip season.
Mark your calendar!
Just as a reminder, best time to see tulips is mid-April to early May, with peak season being second/third week of April and to avoid as of second week May. Famous Keukenhof, south east of Amsterdam, is only open for 8 weeks, this year from March 20 to May 9 however with limited capacity but its usual 7 million bulbs set to bloom! Did you know that it encompasses 800 varieties of tulips on 32 hectares of polder lands?
This is also the time when we would send you on a famous tulip route, 100 kms through over a 1000 hectares of flower fields – by bike, car, or helicopter – even passing blossoming apple and cherry trees. If you are a fan of lilacs, they are at their best between february and April, daffodils show up in bright yellow at the end of March and colorful dahlias are all over the Dutch flower fields in August and September. We can still guide you into flower heaven in the colder months of the year through a new indoors experience with real and virtual flowers based on personal preferences! Oh, and for all you aspiring gardeners, there are some stunning gardens waiting for you in full bloom as of third week May/beginning of June… All dates clear? Then let’s get out there into nature!
Ready to start planning? We thought a little inspiration for a ‘3 day flower feast’ may come in handy! With this example itinerary for both outside and inside of the city borders of Amsterdam, we invite you to lean back and imagine yourself surrounded by colorful flowers taking in the beautiful scent, view and feeling of happiness that comes with it!
